This WC female from northern Angola laid X 14 perfect eggs on the 10/02/14. She weighed 320g before laying and 200g after. The eggs have an average size of 30mmX22mm

Awesome stuff.
Those eggs are a lot rounded that I would have expected, I expected more slender, elongated eggs from such a thin species.
Good luck for the incubation!

I know what you mean Westley but all the eggs I have seen so far from this species are "rounded" like these. Other Psammophis species may have a more typical elongated egg shape.

What species is it, P. phillipsi?

Looks like P.mossambicus to me but waiting for DNA to confirm. P. phillipsi is a high possibility.

Eggs of Psammophis sibilans and P. sudanensis are bigger and more elongated. Here is a picture:

So on the 1 May 2014 the 1st hatchling Psammophis piped it's head out of the egg. Later that evening I cut the remaining eggs and the last two hatchling were out last night.

They are healthy fat babies and quite willing to bite too! I will be releasing them soon.

All the hatchlings shed after their 1st week and I thought I would take the opportunity to get some measurements which may prove useful to someone at some point. Their mean size taken from the measurements of X6 hatchlings is the following:

SVL: 245mm; TL: 335mm; W: 6g

Their mother (adult female) measured: SVL: 960mm; TL: 1370mm; W: 320g (while gravid)
